A Conversation with Dr. Weston
Strong family background and support. My father was an anesthesiologist, my mother an obstetrics nurse, and my older sister is a gastroenterologist.
Strong mentorship and role models in GI throughout residency and fellowship training for which I am most grateful. I am particularly drawn
towards the great diversity within the field which cuts across multiple specialities. The procedural aspect of gastroenterology is a strong attraction.
The practice of gastroenterology is constantly evolving which provides unlimited opportunity for learning particularly in a large medical center
setting such as UW. The opportunity to interact and learn from my patients and colleagues is perhaps the most rewarding.
Endoscopic technology is always evolving and collaboration is key. The struggle will always be to make this technology affordable, widely available,
and easy to learn - use. This is especially a challenge given today’s economic climate and health care reform.
Good timing. It’s a great program and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of it.
The original Starbucks was my first stop. My wife and I are new to the area and look forward to exploring all the wonderful things
Seattle and the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
A trip to the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry Ireland. A great place to check out if you are ever in the area. I also had a chance to witness
Leinster Rugby (the province which represents my hometown County Dublin) win its first ever European cup in 2009.
