Our Division is deeply and passionately committed to the missions of academic medicine.
We provide the highest quality patient care for a wide spectrum of gastrointestinal and
liver diseases. The faculty in our five teaching hospitals possess both depth and
expertise in a variety of disorders, including AIDS, inflammatory bowel diseases, liver
transplantation, bone marrow transplantation, and cancer of the gastrointestinal tract.
Our many innovative and pioneering clinical research programs allow our patients to access
highly promising and exciting treatment protocols.
Our patient care program includes several major components. Gastrointestinal
pathology services assist patients and their physicians in the correct diagnosis of
GI symptoms; therapeutic endoscopy provides patients with avenues for treatment of
pre-cancerous bowel diseases; and our hepatology and liver transplant services provide
clinical services for patients with hepatitis and other chronic liver diseases.
We have 34 full-time faculty members and 50 clinical faculty members. Our faculty conduct
research, perform and supervise clinical procedures, and see patients in five area teaching
hospitals.
