Clinical features
of dyspeptic symptoms
Clinical
features of dyspeptic symptoms (such as location and nature of pain or response
to eating or antacids) are unable to reliably differentiate between peptic ulcer
disease, non-ulcer dyspepsia, gastroesophageal reflux disease and malignancy.
The
history instead should focus on whether there are alarm symptoms present that
warrant referral for immediate investigation by endoscopy.
