Fellowship Program

The fellowship training program at the UW Division of Gastroenterology is regarded as one of the most competitive and highly ranked programs in the country. It is widely recognized as a cradle of original thinkers, innovative investigators, and highly skillful, competent, and dedicated clinicians of the future. We offer two pathways of training: Physician-Scientist and Clinician-Teacher.

HuBio 551 - GUT Course

The GUT Course (HuBio 551) has been consistenly ranked as one of the top courses of Winter quarter, and Course Chair,
Dr. David R. Saunders, has been honored with four Distinguished Teaching Awards from the graduating class. This course, presented as a series of seminars over an intensive one month period, integrates biochemistry, pathology, and physiology into a core knowledge which prepares the student-physician for solving clinical problems. The entire course syllabus is available on-line and is fully updated once a year.
